Default Transmission Drain Plug

Anyone put a transmission drain plug on their dakota? If so , which one and where did you locate it?

Nope, but will next time, a weld in screw type is all you need! I will check into it when I get closer to my next change. Some people like to pull the pan and scrape off the junk at the bottom and put another gasket on it! SO keep that in mind. I have yet to do it myself I paid the oil change place to do it last time, so not sure how much junk was on the bottom!

there are plug kits available but my favorite thing to do is, get a 1/2" nut, drill a hole in the pan, weld the nut on the outside of the pan, then use a short 1/2" bolt with a copper washer i get at napa, very easy and cheap

Well i did drop my pan this weekend and there wasnt that much junk in the bottom. I replaced both filters. I used the mopar transmission rtv from the dealer. Hope its not leaking, still had some drips after 24 hours but i think its built up from the crossmember. (lets hope!!)

Having a drain plug will be so much easier next time!!

I will have to put one in the next time around.
