I suggest the K&N Air Filter 33-2175 `05 Dakotas

I purchased the K&N Air-Filter today p/n 33-2175. I'll take some photos to compare the two filters later.
The K&N came with a stick on rubber gasket for the top half of the intake. The K&N isnt nearly as thick as the factory one.
From a dead stop the truck seemed truely more Responsive when pressing the pedal and maybe it was my ears but the exhaust and engine both sounded better the engine seemed to run better as well.
While replacing the filter today i noticed that the air-intake ran out the passenger side engine wall which i thought was nice it not getting any of the warmer air that may be out infront of the truck in summer time stop and go traffic.
No Cold/Cool Air-Intakes are out yet for the `05 dakotas and to tell ya the truth with the setup it has now seems to run just fine and it seems to be getting all the air it wants or needs not sure i'll need one other than for looks with the cone filter. Any input on this?
Catch ya's later.
I've got a full intake on my '05, technically not a cold air intake, since the filter is a cone in the stock location, but it sounds awesome. I think the truck pulls a little harder, but who knows... It was worth it for the sound alone.

If you have the link please post it, if not what is the part number and who maked your setup?
I can then do a search on the web for it to see what i can come up with.
Thanks for stopping by.

I had a full write-up on what I did over at http://www.dakotatrucks.com, but apparently they just lost a lot of threads recently, including mine.
Basically, I bought an intake from 360airintakez.com:
http://www.360airintakez.com/item--0...ge_D_47PS.html
It's meant for 00-04, but I just kinda rigged it in. The bracket didn't fit perfectly and there was no hole anywhere for the IAT sensor. So it isn't seated as nicely as you may want, and I had to make a hole for the sensor, but it is in there, and it sounds awesome. I plan to try to clean it up a bit now that it's warmer.
very cool, glad others noticed this. i installed the panel filter too....now all i would really like to do is get rid of the resonator and ducting but keep the stock airbox...think its a great design

How did the filter affect gas mileage?? What about the air intake system?? Did it get worse, better...I am considering both of these options, and am just curious
