Default cv shaft???

Hey guys! About a month or 2 ago me and my friend were installing my Day star leveling kit. Well on the driver side we dropped the susspension arm and then all the grease oozed out of cv boot. Now when i drive, it makes a high pitched squeeking sound and drives me NUTS... I no i prolly have to repeplace it but i dont have money right now. Am i damaging my front end?

Your CV Halfshaft is shot. Its easiest just to replace the whole thing than to try and clean, regrease, and replace the boot and it might already be too late in your case. My passanger side boot has a hole in it, but it hasnt made any noise yet so Im just getting it replaced in the near future. You can replace it yourself, but Im not sure on how hard the task is. Im picking up the shaft for about $70 from Autozone and taking it to my local shop. They said they would put it in for about $100, so I figure thats really not too bad. When I heard the axle needed to be replaced, i cringed but the price could be alot worse.

Just spray it with WD-40. It'll be fine. JK

Is it torn? If you dont think theres any debris in there you can just replace the boot. I did that on my Durango when it got a tear in it. New boot also came with new grease. I think it was only like 20 bucks. I did that at about 85k. When I sold the rango and 138k, the cv joint was still going strong. If its making a howling sound it might be junk already though

If your going to replace the boot, you have to make sure that the entire shaft is clean of debris and inspect every inch of it because if its damaged anywhere, eventually it will begin to make noise. Being that yours is already making noise, hendrixx324, I would imagine that you just have to replace the whole thing.

It's not worth the trouble to replace the boot. You have to remove the shaft to replace the boot. For $50 more why not be done with it replace the whole shaft.
