Hey got a question for you guys. Today I was leaving to go home and was parked on a snow bank. I put the truck in 4Lock pulled out and put it back in 2wd. When I was driving on the highway I heard a tapping noise only over 2500 rpm and up. Pulled into a parking lot put it in 4Lock again and drove it in circle slow and then put it in 2wd and did the same.

Got back on the highway and had it up to 4500 rpm and nothing, the noise stopped. Just wondering I think a hub was stuck or maybe the transfer case. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or had issues with the hubs or TC.

Also when I put it in 4Lock I'm usually in drive foot on brake and let it lock in. I only leave it in til I'm out, less than a minute. Should I be letting it stay in longer and is this a bad procedure for putting it into 4wd.

To the locking up part, hopefully someone else can answer that.

It is safe to engage 4 wheel drive while in motion, just do it while driving straight. I never stop to lock in.
