random shut off

Default random shut off

Guys,
today while coasting to a red light my truck just randomly shut off, i have only owned the truck for about a month and a half and it has never done this.. its a 2005 4.7 4x4 with about 37k miles. any ideas?

mine stalls every now and then...hasn't done it in a while though. seems to be a pretty common problem though with these trucks. if it starts happening a lot you can go to the dealership and they can install some update that is supposed to fix that issue i think.

I havent had that issue, but I am a tad newer with less miles. Maybe some of the other guys that have experienced it will chime in.

have you had the flash done? is it covered under the powertrain warranty?

They should do a flash for free. I have had this problem for a while now but only once every few months. One time it was while coasting down a curvy hill... what a rush.

Mine used to do it. Took it into the dealer, they reflashed, and havent had the problem since "knock on wood"

mine hasnt stalled since i installed the superchips tuning but it has only been about 2 months since ive had it installed. if it does it again i will take it to the dealer(i try and stay away from the dealer as much as possible.)

Does anyone know what the tsb number is for the flash? my truck started doing this again and I called the dealer but they dont know or heard anything about this flash. also is the flash covered under powertrain warrenty?

I don't think it was a TSB, they just reflashed the ECU to the newest firmware. Just tell them you are haveing major problems with it stalling, and you fear that you may lose control of the vehicle stalls and it locks your steering and you want your ECU reflashed.
