That looks like it will work pretty good. The only thing that would concern me if it would get knocked open if you were off roading. Looks like it will lock in the close position.

Cranking the engine a couple turns is not going to ruin any engine. All you need to do is technically get that filter half empty, so when you go to remove it it wont spill every where. No one said anything about running your engine with no oil. Those couple of cranks you turn the engine to drain the filter are no worse than a cold start up where all the oil has drained to the sump, and the first couple seconds the top end of your motor has limited to no oil until it is able to flow there. My .02

They make a hose clamp that looks like the ones they used in the 70's on heater hoses, you know the ones.. heck with trying to tell you but this is what they recommended if you off road allot and you run over branches and such.. Pictures says so much more LOL ..Cya Slick

If you crank an engine over with no oil in it besides what is in the filter, you are pumping air thru out the oil galleys.

That does not cause damage?

You guy can think what you want, I know better.

As far as being a dick about it, well if it stops just one person from doing something as stupid as this, well than I will gladly be called a dick.

Go ahead boys, have at it. When one of you causes damage by doing this, I will laugh so hard you will hear me from N.J.

Mechanic for how many years? lol

One step in changing oil that most people miss or may not know is to fill the new filter about 1/2 to 2/3 rds with fresh oil. Now class lets have a show of hand on how many of you miss this step lol.
