Default anyone else have this problem?

I have recently installed the 3 in lift kit, and I started to install nerf bars a couple days later. When I went to put the first bracket on, the extended bolts that came with the lift kit were to short for the lift kit and the brackets. The reason is because the rubber body bushings are concave up, so they allow the bolt to sit in further when installed. With the nerf bar bracket though, it is flat and takes away the concave shape so the bolt doesn't sit up inside. Because of this little difference, the bolts wouldn't catch any threads. I've called around and can't find a bolt with a long enough lenth. I have found some the same length and same thread (M12 1.75) but none long enough. So the question is, has anyone installed the body lift and nerf bars? If so did you run into a similar problem, and how did you fix it if you did? I thought about taking allthread rod and making it work. Thanks.

Try looking for longer bolts at boltdepot.com. I have not had your same problem but have had need for unusual fasteners in the past. Good luck.

Hey guys I'm curious, I found a 3 inch lift new for $285, but it would cost over $700 to have someone install it. If I could do it myself I'd get it in a heartbeat, but I hear that it can be time consuming and there is a bit of tinkering you have to do with brake lines, steering column and others to name a few. Im not afraid to get dirty under my truck, but I dont want to "F" it up. Is it really that hard? Where could I go to get step by step directions (accurate ones) that could walk me through the install and tinkering, or if any of ya live near ohio I could throw a few bucks your way to help me do it. Thanks.

Hey italian. They were going to charge me that price to install it, but I had the tools at the house to put it on myself. I got the performance accessories lift, and it came with great picture by picture and instructions on how to install the whole kit. It does involve cutting the radiator supports and extending them, so just make sure you have something to cut those. You will also need a drill with a half inch bit, and I believe a smaller one for extending the radiator supports also. You will also need to trim part of the front and rear bumper in order for the brackets supplied to fit properly. I would check to see if they supply the instructions first. If not, I would say there is somebody on here who knows where to find them at. If people don't respond on this thread, you might want to start another one stating your question. It took me a total of two days, but I was taking my time and not trying to rush the project. Also, there are some things in the directions that do not have to be done, but I went ahead and followed them all because I just wanted to be sure. One thing I've heard also is to be careful while cutting the radiator supports. I put something behind them just in case the blade slipped through so there would not be any damage to the air condensor. I hope this helps.
