2008 4.7 QC tranny leak?
Hello all,
I bought a used 2008 Dakota QC 4x4 with the 4.7, I have had it only a few months and I noticed a small spot under the truck. Upon inspection it is coming from the center....well...I want to call it the "yoke" that goes onto the output shaft on the tail of the tranny.
Its not alot of fluid, its just a drip...makes a spot about the size of a silver dollar when parked on a slight grade with the back of the truck leaning down hill.
I took the truck back to the dealer I bought it from, which is a toyota dealer... they looked at it, called dodge, and were told that dodge had a teflon sealant they put on the splines in the outputshaft.
all was well for about 3 weeks, now there is another silver dollar sized spot in the driveway, and it appears to be dripping again.
Is this a "common problem" with this year? Is it something simple like a seal, or is it an indication of a bigger problem inside the tranny?
I have an aftermarket "extended warranty" but it has a 200 dollar deductable... and if I thought there was something major wrong with it I would take it too dodge and gladly pay the 200 bucks... the toyota dealership wants me to just bring it back to them...
anyone else had this "drip"?
Thanks in advance

Just an update I thought Id share in case anyone starts to have the same issue, I returned the truck to the dealer where I bought it which was a Toyota dealer, they sent the truck to Dodge and upon inspection the Dodge guys found that a bushing was pushing the rear seal out, they replaced the entire rear tailshaft housing... problem solved.
