287 HO = 265hp Crank
287 = 235 Crank

Twenty of that hp comes from the HO Cams.

I'm just nervous opening up the engine...how hard is it really to change them out? It could take a professional mechanic 9 hours but it may take me a week. I just wouldn't want to get in over my head with this project.
