im thinking about getting a magnaflow muffler, but i am having trouble trying to figure out what size/offset to get. any one know off the top of their head the size/shape/offset of muffler needed on an 05 crew v8 4x4?

Default Here Ya Go!!!

I have the same truck. The original muffler is 31" long.

I replaced it with a Magnaflow Part No. 12586, 5" x 11" oval which is 22" long.

It is an offset muffler with 2.5" inlet and outlet.

I dumped BOTH "resonators" and REALLY like the sound, but of course everybody's different.

It sounds neat when you get on it but has a "drone" when pulling but quiet out on the highway at 75 mph and around 2200 rpm in overdrive.

It sounds great at 2000 rpm around town in second gear.

It's a "shot in the dark" when doing this as everybody has different tastes in sound.

I am totally satisfied with this setup.

I was just looking into this myself. The piping is 2.5 in/out, inlet/outlet opposite sides. I picked up Magnaflow #12256, haven't put in in yet, sure hope I'm right. Anyone else...

I took out everything except the cats after the headers and put in the thrush muffler. It had terrible resonance at first but it either broke in or when i installed the superchips tuning it made it quieter some how because you can barely notice it in the cab now...I get compliments all the time from people on how it sounds.(and yes...turning your head as I drive by is considered a compliment too.)

ND Dakota thanks for the response, anyway you can post a sound clip of your setup? i was thinking about just taking out the resonator after the muffler.. also do you have dual exhaust ?
