has anyone ever cut out the bottom of the center console? i need about an inch and a half more depth but i don't know if there's that much space under there.

its an 06 dakota st. i measured the outside of the console and it is 13 inches not counting the lid. inside depth is 10 inches. im just wondering if the space under there is empty.
in the bottom of the console is a blk plastic tray, you can remove that. i have had my console so many times, but i cant remember if there is any room or if it just sits on the body
