05 for a test drive
I will be taking an 05 4x4 3.7 QC w 42k miles on it for a test drive sometime this week. If all goes well this will be my first Dodge. Any suggestions as to things to look/listen for would be appreciated. I've been reading alot about breaks, joints and noises in general with the front end... are these the exception or the rule? Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

Well if you decide to get it make sure you check for the jack under the rear passenger side seat... I checked when i got my truck and it wasnt there, and the same think happend to my dad, So im just passing that on so you dont end up on the sie of the road without the tools you need to fix your truck

best thing to look for is a very bouncy frt end. the factory stuts are teribble, most of us spent the money and went with the ranchos, much ride improvement, also listen for any type of popping noise while turning or going over speed bumps, if you hear a snap crakle pop. the ball joints are shot. those need to be replaced, other than that. they are a strong truck and good luck

Any real difference then the 04 v6? I took an 04 for a ride last year and liked everything about it. This is going to be a daily driver, and a way to get the mtn bikes to the trail and trips to HD for plywood etc now and then. 4x4 for the snow here in PA. No off-roading or hauling. We have a 05 explorer xlt as well though probably about the same power wise being its a v6 as well 4.0 I think. I already figure to give this one to my son who is now 9 and at that time if I have a boat or something that needs towing, would probably go the v8 route. Thanks for all the input guys.
+1, had to have a front suspension piece replaced because of the poor quality. Forget if it was a control arm, bushing or what but it was cheap and under warranty. Part was 75 bucks absorbed by Dodge. The V6 is slow but does not hinder you however do not expect much performance from this truck. It is however good on gas for a truck if you do not have a heavy foot...not like it will go anywhere anyway. I have since upgraded to the V8. Good Luck with your new truck!
