Well, by system, what do you mean? Subs and an amplifier? or interior speakers and amps and subs?
You are going to need a high level converter. Something like this...

I want to put an amp and a 12inch sub in the truck. I have a single cd factory head unit. I have a quad cab and took out the smaller side of the split bench seat in the back to make room. I'm not looking to change out my speakers at this time. I just need info about how and what I need to do in order to get a sub and amp in there. Thanks

Ok, you will need to get am amplifier install kit. Depending on the amp it could be as big as 4ga or as small as 8ga.
That amp install kit should come with RCA's to get the signal from the radio. for that you will need a high level converter like I listed above.
The amp needs power, ground and remote (switched power) and a signal.
The power will come from the battery, the ground will just be to a chassis ground, the remote will be to any source that has power when the key is on, and doesnt when its off.
The Rca's just plug into that highlevel converter and run run to the amp.

it all depends on the amps used...
Right now I have a JL 400/4 and an MTX mono sub amp. I have full fade/balance.
if it were a 2 channel amp, you would only have front/back or side to side...
I generally suggest a 4ch amp for interiors. a nice 2 channel amp can get the job done, but a 4ch is most like factory.
