Default paint / bugguard question

Talked to autozone today. The guy said if your fingernail hangs on a scratch, mcguires scratchx will not remove it. How can I fix a scratch like this. Bugguard, the ones autozone carries do not have the eyebrows (2005 dakota) does anyone still make bugguards with eyebrows, the manufacturer said they haven't made these since 2004.

Default bugguard

I just saw a reply posting for a similar question about bugguard by SilverGhost1 stating that there are no over the headlight bug guards for 3rd gen daks. So that answers that question. Does anyone else have an opinion? I would still like an answer on the paint/scratch. Thanks in advance.

Why don't you just go to a body shop? You would be suprised what they can do for very little money. I had a primer deep scratch compounded away by a body shop on a different vehicle.

You may be able to wet sand the scratch with 1000 or 1200 grit wet/dry sand paper. just put a few drops of dish soap in with some water. That will help the paper glide over the scratch. Don't use your fingertips, Use the palm of your hand to hold the paper as your fingertips do not put even pressure on the scratch. Sand lightly and check often. Use some fine or med compound a little at a time then put some wax or polish over the area. if you need to touch the scratch up buy a pack of diff size craft brushes, they work better that the brushes that come with your touch up paint. Good Luck and let us know how it turns out.

Default installing bug guard question

Almost seems like I need t take the grille off to install the guard. Videos I watched on install looked like just loosening the upper bolts would work, however in trying this it seems like i will have to remove the grille to get a good enough gap. Any opinion on this? (2005 Dakota)

I thought i was going to need to remove the entire grill frame also when i bought mine EGR Superguard (no eyebrows). One last try and actually reading the suppliers instructions it popped right in.
