Default Duratracs

Would I be able to run 275/70/18 Goodyear Duratrac's if I get the 2" leveling kit and/or 3" body lift? Or what would I have to do to be able to run those? I'm looking into getting Duratrac's but want to make sure that they will run and that it won't be too much or too little tire. Because I don't want to have too small of tires on my truck. So would this be a good setup or is there a different size tire I should get in the Duratrac? I was hoping to find the perfect size in the Duratrac without getting a lift at all but I am not sure if there would be a tire that would fit perfectly. I run 265/60/18 right now but of course that size isn't available in these type of tires. Any advice or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is 245/70/17 equivalent to 265/60/18? How would that look on a Dakota? The 245 really throws me off. Definitely leaning towards the 275/70/18 though.

The 245/70 is similar in height but about an inch narrower. I personally think they would look silly since they are so narrow. Then again, I think my 275/65 Firestones look too narrow, and they are just a hair under 11" wide

I kinda doubt you could fit the 275/70s without a decent amount of trimming. Even with both a leveling kit and a body lift, 33" tires seem to be the absolute biggest people can cram in if they are lucky, and those 275/70s are a little bigger than 33". I'd say track down a set of the Duratracs in 275/65/18 if you want to be absolutely sure they would fit.

the most common size I've seen and my self included are 265/75(on a 16 rim) which is basically a 32" tire some say they have minor rubbing I haven't experienced any my self (except at full flex) and I don't have a level kit or body lift yet and they fill in the truck nicely.. I think hendrixx is running on 33`s im curious bout a 35 after kit and lift my self

Well I fit 265/75 R16x7 for a few years, without any type of lift or leveling kit. They never rubbed, under and condition.

The combination is too heavy though, the 16x7 steel wheel and BFG AT @ 265/75 r16. You have to watch that weight with these wimpy rack and pinion setups. I think the tire wound up being a 31.6, and even with a 2" leveling kit that I added down the road, the front was cramped.

For daily driving, 33" is too much for this truck. But of course, thats just my conservative opinion. I always try to include long term reliability when I think of these sort of things.

So the size your looking at is 275/80 R18, IMO, thats a tad too big, coming in at 33.2". Even with a leveling kit, AND a body lift kit, you would need to do some trimming, and depending on the wheels, you may have some rub on the frame.

If you were to drop down to a tire in the range of 31.5"-32", you would be in good shape, even with just a leveling kit.

33" is a LOT of tire for a truck this size....lol.

Personally, I am back at the factory size of 245/70 R16.

P.S.

Canadian Dakota, 35s??? Lol, thats insane man. Talk about new gears!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I definitely agree that the 245 would look rather small and probably be a bit silly looking lol. I am considering the 275/65/18 but don't want to buy them and have them not work. It's much better when I can see the setup before ordering it lol. I wish the Duratracs came in 265/60/18. That would make things a lot easier! Duratracs are a great tire though so I'm hoping to find the perfect size and combo for my Dak! Thanks!

Did you look at Hankook's Dyna Pro ATM?? I have them in 17's and pretty sure they make them in the size you are looking for. I was a little leery at first because they are a 10 ply tire but, they ride smooth and not noisy at all. Good Luck.

Thanks, I will check those out. I just really want the Duratracs. They are an awesome looking tire and perform great! I have Bridgestone Dueler AT's on it right now with less than 5k miles on them, but I really like the Duratracs. Its just a pain figuring everything out because I don't know what will work and what won't. It's easy when I can see another truck who has the same tire size, but I'm not having too much luck with that lol.

Those Hankook's are a sweet looking tire! I'll have to check pics out of your truck.
