Default Black Truck Owners question...

I am a new dakota owner (2months) and the truck is black. My question is if I am being to **** or not. When I hand wash the vehicle (up close and personal) there are fine scratches all over and it drives me nuts! From five feet away you cannot see them, but I know they are there. Is there something for this, or am I being rediculous? I waxed when first purchased, is it time again? (By the way, this is my first black vehicle, hence the question)

2005 dakota ST. I use Eagle One spray wash, sponge, and three micro fiber drying cloths.

Any help would ease my sanity

Here is one way of doing it. Comes from meguiars site. It is a pretty involved process and with the vehicle being rather large, you're going to need some time.

There are other tutorials online, if you search you can see a variety of different manufacturers tutorials as well as personal tutorials on other forums. This quickly gives you an idea of what you can do to minimize the scratches.

My best advice to you, is stop touching the paint.

Go to a good high pressure touchless wash machine. The less you touch black, the better.

I have the dark blue one. I know what you are talking about. It drives me nuts. I am currently looking at an '10 1500 and it's NOT going to be a dark color. At times after a through washing I use, Kit, "Scratch Out" before waxing. I think it works rather well.

There are various swirl removers on the market. I've not really used any onf them. Use a high quality cleaner-wax in between frequent regular waxings. I hear the Turtle Wax Ice helps for quick detail jobs to keep it slick. When it's well waxed, the touchless car washes do a great job. Poor wax and they don't work well at all.

Dude, what is going on on your truck? I usually have to drive to East St. Louis to see that.
