Default Cool idea, but a couple of things came to mind.

If you go through a big rain puddle, do you think it will suck in a monster amount of water (not just normal splashes?)
If you are driving at freeway speeds, that is basically hurricane force wind coming into it, so will the metal you are using hold-up under those stresses? I can't see how you are mounting it to the bumper too well, but maybe make sure its ready for those kinds of stresses?

The pipe itself is going to be JB Welded and screwed together with sheet metal screws. Its attaching to the air box with a band clamp, and the air scoop will be attached to the pipe with a band clamp as well to make for easy installation and removal. The scoop is going to be mounted to the bumper from the bottom by 2 bolts with wing nuts. Ill probably run the pipe along the wheel well and mount it to there. Ill only know when I actually get under there to fit it. Ill keep you guys updated. It should probably be fitted by Wednesday and the joints should be sealed and it should be sprayed by Saturday.

A little update for you all. My Airaid CAI will be here Wednesday, so I hope on finishing it all that night. I went out tonight and played around with the pipe and air box. I was planning on replacing the tube that runs from the fender to the air box, but there is no way Im going to be able to make that type of turn with the galvanized pipe so I decided to keep it. I ran out of pipe (again) because I was planning on using some straight sections, but the space is so tight coming down from the fender that without bendable sections, there is no way Ill be able to do it. If I was using PVC this would be a nightmare. I guess I didnt realize how tight it was until I actually got up in there and started running it. Im holding the pipe through the fender right now with a hose clamp, and the rest of the pipe will probably be screwed and JB Welded together. Im running it right along the wheel well so I will also throw a bolt in there to secure it, along with bolting the scoop to the front bumper. I broke the seal on the JB Weld to finish off the scoop, so now it just has to be sanded and painted. Heres the pics:

The pipe barley fitting through the hole in the fender.

What you see from the engine bay .... nothing.

The bend in up in the fender was the hardest. There pipe barley fits in there, and there is no room to run even a few inches of straight section until you reach about halfway down the side of the wheel well.

As far as I could get tonight with the bendable piping that I had.

More to come ....

gd luck can't wait to seem, my only problem doing this is water and mudd... i say mudd because there are alot of dirt roads and alot of dirt ends up on the road. also rain because rain is going to go into the scoop and with air moving its going to go up and be sucked up... even if u drill holes in it? not dising u dude i could be wrong but thats my nightmare. maybe when u get ur CIA maby drill another hole? that way more air is getting up there? thats what i been debating on doing but probly wont until my warranty is up which is a couple years.

Not too worried about rain, it would have to be pushed up the tube. There wont be any suction because its not an air-tight system. Its just meant to move cool air up in to the stock box where the CAI sits. And when it gets stuff in it Ill just pop the hood and run water down it. And if it doesnt work out, it will only be a couple of bolts and I can pull it off.

Looks good man I really like it, you should check out specter performance, they have a filter that goes inside the pipe really cool.. What your making and what spector performance sells is not all that much different other then they weld the pieces together and dont use JB weld but pretty much the same concept, who cares to much a about fit and finish unless your entering it into a show looks good keep it up..
