The toy is far more reliable and just a better build. 3rd. party modifications are enormous compare the almost non existent for the Dakota. The 3.7 Dak V6 is not where you want to go. Very thirsty for it wimpy 210HP. If towing is important for you go with the V8 Dakota. The prerunner comes from the factory lifted. The Dakota can’t even be lifted except for an inert body lift. The Dakota is going away at least in its present form in 2011. Some very good deals on the Daks but don't expect if to be a prerunner it will never be one and you can't make it into one either.

I appreciate all of the honest replies, yall. It looks like I'll probably be staying with a Tacoma. The main reason being the aftermarket support, or lack there of in the Dakota's case. I must say though, the price on these Dakotas is quite tempting..
