Gotcha. Mine has the 3.55s but I dont tow so its not that big of deal. If I didnt have 4 wheel drive though I wouldve swapped them out a long time ago for at least some 3.92s to get a little more speed.

You will get more speed from a 3.55 than a 3.93. I haven't towed anything yet and don't plan to tow anything larger than a 14' boat so I don't think my 3.55 will be an issue. As far as I'm concerned a 3.55 is a good overall gear but I wouldn't go any lower.

If ever a suspension lift becomes available and I put larger wheels on the truck, or my towing needs change I'll go to a taller gear, but until then this seems to work for me.

My mistake, I meant quicker acceleration.

Has anybody gone from a 3.55 to a higher gear? I'm curious just how much difference it made in both drivability as well as fuel economy. I guess the question is, was it worth the cost?

I'm sure I wouldn't be dissapointed with the quicker acceleration of a 3.92 gear, well I know I wouldn't, but right now it just seems too costly to make a gear swap for what I plan to be towing; especially when there are other mods I want done first that will cost less.

I would expect city use fuel economy to improve slightly with a mildly higher gear. Oposite for highway driving though.

Trucky was asking about gears because there was a problem getting them for the front diff on a 4x4. Heres the thread:
