Exclamation Engine dying.. :(

Well this morning I put the mileage XS save tune on my truck, and drove it to the brake tag place. As I was turning into the lot, all of a sudden the wheel locks up and the engine dies. She started right back up, but it sounded hesitant. On my way back it did it again while turning down a street and again in my driveway. It seems it only does it while I'm turning and coasting. It must be the tune, but no one else has had any problems with it? Should I redo the tune? For a few months I had the performance tune with no issues..

wow, I don't have one yet, but I am certainly interested in seeing what other people who have them think before I go and get one. Could it be like some computer programs that take more than one install to fully load, i.e. uninstall and re-install then try to recreate the same scenario that caused her to cut out on you. Did you have to run premium fuel with the performance tune and now that your on another program that does not require premium, but you are still running it?

No, I did the 87 octane tune with no issues. This XS saver also has a rough idle, it seems like it almost wants to die when I'm just at red lights ect.. I was just out going around a turn at about 15 MPH, and it died. Starting to make me nervous, I could cause a serious wreck. I think I'm going to reinstall the 87 Octane tune.

I would put it back to stock first, see how it runs then. I ran the XS tune for a brief period without issue. I would be surprised if the tune is the cause of your problem, but you never know...

did you notice an appreciable difference with the 87 octane tune? Did you do any transmission tuning? I am thinking about getting one of these still, but have trouble justifying the cost if you really can't tell anything (other than knocking if you dont use premium fuel cause it adjusts the timing so much).

First put the truck back to stock and drive it for a while before reprogramming it with any tune again. It could be something with your truck. Any DTCs showing up? Try reading the DTCs with your programmer even if you dont have an engine light. Sometimes there will be one there that could point you to something specific.

Also what firmware are you running? Have you updated the tuner online?

I ran the XS tune for over 5k miles and didn't have any trouble with it. When you say the wheel locks do you mean the steering wheel locks in place like it normally would when you shut off the truck? (Actually I can't remember if ours do that)

I have run the XS Tune for several 100 miles without a problem. I agree on setting it back to stock. It can't hurt. And update the tuner!

Yeah I should update it. I think the tuner is worth it, I ran a tank of premium with the 91 tune, then went to the 87 tune, and didn't notice a performance loss from 91 to 87. You def notice performance gains and improved acceleration. I wouldn't buy one new though, I got one for $200 in perfect condition on ebay.
