Rear brakes shoes getting thin, so i go to all the usual websites-autozone, oreilly's, advance and not one of them has the shoes in stock. Call the local Dodge dealer and he proceeds to tell me they don't sell them anymore and i have to buy a $230 kit to convert to a double return spring set up. Any one else heard of this? Any ideas where i can get the stock shoes online? Firestone guy could not find them either, he tried thru his supplier-American Brake Company. They gave him the same story.

I have a 2005 2wd quad cab. Mfr date of 9/04. Dealer stated everything in 05 and early 06 was affected by this.

Those are the dual return spring option, mine has the single. The hole for the return spring is not there.

The kit the dealer has is to convert to the dual spring set up. It entails replacing everything from the end of the axle forward.

i just saw two different dates, before a certain date was one set and after a certain date was the other set. I figured one was for the old style and one was for the new style....

Wait...You do realize the dual spring kit is an improvement, right?

I looked into the dealer $230.00 kit....the only thing you get is the shoes and hardware kit.

Who told you that the backing plate was included?

Also, the drums are supposed to be cut when using the new kit (2006 and up).

Anyone else want to chime in? Am I wrong (mis-informed)?

When it is time to replace my single spring set, I planned on getting shoes/HW kit/drums for a 2006 for my 2005....

Look up TSB 05-002-06, that is where they came up with the kit...
