Default SuperChip @ O'Rielly's

Went o O'Rielly's Autoparts over the weekend and saw they had started selling Supertuners or SuperChips. So I asked what they were selling them for, for my Dakota.

They really need to start having stools or fainting couches in those stores...

$499.99!

Can you guess what time it'll be before I buy one from them?

I bought a cortex from Autozone and it was $421 after tax. The cheapest I could find one online for was $380, so I figured the extra $40 was worth it incase I wanted to return it, it would be much easier than trying to ship it back to an online dealer. Well I liked it until I found a brand new flashpaq shipped to my door for under $280. Autozone gave me a little bit of a hassle when trying to return it, but I eventually succeded and saved a ton of money. I had to return my truck to stock for a couple days, and in that time I realized how much it really did help.

How much of a noticeable difference does a superchip make on our dakota's?

At first I thought it only fiddled with the shift points a little bit to make it seem like you are getting more power, but after I turned my truck back to stock and retuned the truck again, I realized it does wake up the truck. If you pay the extra 40 bucks for the transmission tuning, you can remove most of the torque management and actually get your head to plant in to the head rest during WOT shifts. Along with this, you can make your own shift schedules. Superchips claims a +18rwhp gain on the 91 octane performance tune, which is my preferred tune.

"When I turn her on, she returns the favor"

I like this. My truck does the same! v-roooom!I want one just to smooth the shifting out. Maybe add some power from time to time. Maybe increase fuel economy. The next big mod I plan is the e-fan. Superchip will wait for a bit.

Thanks hwcurtice ... dont tell anyone I stole that from a Catillac commercial a couple years ago. lol. Definetly order the tuner offline or buy one used. Dont spend $500 on it. I never noticed a gain in economy, but never a decrease. I also always have my foot in the radiator if you know what I mean with the truck tuned for performance. Using the tuner for the transmission tuning was worth every penny though!

I'm just not sure which to get, that's the thing. But like I said, next big mechanical mod is the e-fan, hopefully by the end of Summer. All other mods I have planned are "BLING" and to protect certain parts of the truck from general abuse.

Maybe will bring me a SuperChip....
