Gen I 1986-1990
GenII 1991-1996
GenIII 1997-2004
GenIV 2005-2007
GenV 08+

 

Now that is what I was thinking also. Why do you guys consider the 05 a G3?

 

Because 1986-1996 the truck varied little year to year - Gen 1

There was awhole new design for 1997-2004, same motors for the most part, but new frame and styling - Gen 2

Same with 2005+, it was a whole new design frame up. Now the 08+ basically changed the front fascia, and gave it a new V8 and other little things here and there, it was the same frame, same trans, and such. Making it Gen 3

The actual generations are:

1st: 87-96
2nd: 97-04
3rd: 05-11

Just like we have it. There weren't enough differences in some of those years to change the generation.

There's always different views from site to site, we just chose the most descript and general, that is found from most sources.

 

Midnight pretty much summed it up. Different forums see things different ways.

 

So now that the generation banter is summed up after many concurrences, back on topic! Blown's truck is up and running with the new gaskets, the head bolts are finally to spec, new throttle body, and the blower is in, but we will have a new pulley on it soon.

 

Probably this weekend if all goes well.
