Id probably go with something along the lines of a Dana44. Hit the local junkyards for Jeep grand cherokee axles, or possibly gen2 dakota axles.
The width of both should be fine. should be able to pick up either set for around 500. You could also go with Jeep TJ axles and save a bit on welding new mounts...

So not including tires and wheels you could easily do it under 4 grand if you did the work yourself.

yeah i'm sorry but my dakota was not built for an extreme off roading vehicle! woulda bought a ram for that! lol so i'll save that and put it towards engine mods and exterior mods and airbags!

just took a closer look, and it is actually just a dak body droped on a ram frame, so really not all that special....

If you look at the rest of the pictures in the magazine, or website, there is a shot from under the front of the truck to show off the suspension. You can definately tell that it is NOT our frame.

look at the front rails, the spring buckets, bumper mount and more is what gave it away, oh... and it looks identical to the frame on my ram...

It looks to be either a Jeep or a old Dodge pickup power train as far as the drive system.

I have this issue....That dakota was in an accident and the guy rebuilt the thing from the ground up
