Heavy Duty Rack and Pinion?
Has anyone come across a Heavy Duty Rack and Pinion for our truck?
Something with larger pistons are larger gears? Anything better than stock.
I have heard they have beefed up the minivans rack. I doubt they are compatible with our truck.

Nope, only OEM is available for our trucks. If youre looking for a new one, it will cost you a pretty penny. Even a refurb is pricey.
I think the 2010 minivans come with thicker driveshafts than our trucks, too. Those soccer moms must be pretty rough on those things .....

They are extremely under powered for this truck. I blew through 3 of them in 30,000 miles when I had big tires and a leveling kit. Since I removed all that stuff, and went back to factory, I have been going about 25,000 miles on my current rack and it has been working perfectly. I check it often too.
There just too weak for this truck. Doing lifts and throwing on giant tires only makes it tougher on these fragile things.
I also heard that the minivan tie rod were beefier then the dakotas...and that is just a shame. It just shows that dodge most likely used a rack and pinion system from another vehicle in there line.
I don't think rack and pinion steering belongs on a pickup truck anyway, but we have never had to replace one in our high mileage ranger, or toyota truck.
