Is there a way to reset the computer? I want to reset the driving habits on my truck, the person that owned it before me couldn't drive! As soon as it hits 30 mph it kicks into over drive and I have to floor it to shift out of OD. Thanks Again! Nick

 

that is the way these trucks are designed. get into od as soon as possible. You can try to reset the pcm, disconnect the battery overnight, but I found that didn't do much for the tranny. Your best bet is a superchips, it modifies the shifting, holds the gears longer. It's well worth the price just for that. Really woke my truck up.

 

I will try to reset the pcm, since I'm a 3.7 and SC doesn't support it... Thanks though

Listen guys, disconnecting your battery does nothing lol. You know how crazy this thread sounds? All your going to achieve is having to reset your radio stations. lol.

 

Not based on my own personal experience. It did wonders for some driveability issues I was having at the time. Sorry, but that was my experience. and I did not have to reset my radio stations because I had a 9 volt battery connected to the power port.

 

I've heard that these trucks "learn" from the way you drive them, engine and transmission, so if, say, you drove it like grandma for 50,000 miles, then it would have "learned" that driving style, so it would make sense to wipe everything out and start over when you buy one thats used....similar to defragmenting or reformatting a hard drive on a pc, right? (yes I know there is a difference between a defrag and a reformat), but you get the idea....

 

Which is yet another good way to have the airbag system blow, I should have remembered to mention that in that other thread.

I used to use the 9V memory savers, until I was informed by a trusted sourec to stop using them, due to the air bag system. BTW, the 9V battery would still keep your PCM "learned habits", since the electrical system is all interconnected.

 

Guess i should go back to riding a bicycle since everything i do to my vehicle is either:
1) dangerous
2) useless
3) makes someone on here think "WTF, are you an idiot?"

Makes me laugh.
