HELP! squeaking front end
help!
my front end is squeaking really bad! 2007 dakota v6
My best guess is that it is my ball joint as when i turn the wheel from one side to the other it creeeeeeeeeaks like a spring, and when I raise it by a jack it squeaks worse! i've lubed everything and changed the stabilizer links.
is it my ball joint? please help.
is there a link for instructions on how to change a lower ball joint on 3rd gen dakotas?

My money would be on the ball joint(s) .... the crappy struts from the factory cause premature wear on everything up front.
If youre looking at doing them yourself, you probably should just replace all the ball joints up front so you only have to get one alignment. Struts would be a great idea as well if you have a spring compressor.
You can find anything youve ever wanted to fix on your truck in the sticky at the top of the 3rd gen dak section. Its a huge download, but it has everything. And its free! Good luck!

Yeah I have heard bad things about the ball joints from a lot of people who own dakotas. The front ends of these trucks leave much to be desired. I just had to spend something like $800 replacing the entire rack and pinion after a tie rod end broke off on my passenger side. Good luck to you.
