Sorry, I forgot to take a measurement for you last night before I went out. Im measuring a 3.5" I.D. for the part that attaches to the throttle body.

No worries brother. You have been a tremendous help. Thanks again for the pics and measurements.
We will be *definitely looking to buy one of the Dakota's air hat to see how the truck responds to it?

Can I ask why a Dakota air hat? Is there a difference?

Sure, we read on another forum a member supposedly used a dakota hat on his ram to build some low end torque. Actually first that member said it was from a 08 ram or dak but that hat did not fit.
We are just trying to put to the test what the member stated to see if it can benefit my friend with his ram. On my friends ram he has a intake tube that goes from the tb to the factory filter box but he notices with that intake he suffered a bit of low end torque loss, oppose to using the oem ram hat which helped with the low end but does not offer a good mid to high end in power.

The difference with the 02-07 rams 4.7 hat is it's just a rectangular box that is hollow inside. Unlike the dakotas with a 90 degree mold inside to help direct air to the tb and we are assuming that the baffles inside the dak hat help create the turbulence which is giving the extra bit of torque too? Hopefully we can come to a medium with the dak hat. A good low end increase and maintain some good power in the mid and upper rpms.

Gotcha,

Well if you were in WI, I would let you borrow mine to see how it works out.

Are you guys already running an open exhaust on the truck?

That would of been great...We opened up the exhaust with the replacement of the factory y-pipe with a better design from magnaflow and a 20" dynomax super turbo muffler.

I will keep you all posted once we get the hat.

Not sure either why the truck lost low end torque either? We also are not sure why dakota 4.7s hat has a more efficient design over that of the rams as well? Im sure part of hollow hat that comes on the ram is due to keep the intake noise level down and/or that style hat is designed to help create more low end torque since the 4.7 motor in a heavier truck demands more torque to get up and going??
