Default 100w headlight bulbs

anybody ever played with these. i think the stock ones are like 35~55 watts. and I have seen 100 watt bulbs around the internet.

i have had hids but i wasnt happy with the beam pattern. currently im running sylvania silverstars but I kinda want something a little brighter.

You can try them but any time you up the wattage you risk melting the housing or the wiring harness .... or both. Those will get significantly hotter than a standard bulb.

I'm contemplating 100W fog light bulbs. I have a pair of 100W Xenon bulbs, that it perfectly, and wow are they bright compared to the stock 45W bulbs. I tried one last night in the one fog light housing.

I ran 85W bulbs in my Malibu for years. Stock is 55W. The only problem I had was melting the plug, but, it melted with the stock bulb wattage as well.

Not ever in the 07 Dak but used them in my 95 Dak and they where so hot they would yellow the reflector and haze the lenses. Then after all the damage they would burn out in less then half the time of the stock lamps. Bottom line the light pods of today’s vehicles are making for the stock lamp wattage only. Great aftermarket light makers in the past such as Marshal and CBA & Miller you could run 130 watt lamps and never have a problem. They where real cut glass lenses and high quality reflectors.

What was wrong with the beam pattern? I'm beginning to think our trucks are not made for HID's from all the negatives I hear.

True enough the light pods all wrong for HID lamps. You would have to find a total replacement HID assembly made to the DAK. They look cool coming at you but the light oon the road is a mess.
