Eimer, with your big a$$ battery, you should have no problems.

Ive learned that your money is best spent on a battery with the highest number of cranking amps and also a warming blanket if you feel it to be necessary.

Block heaters are nice just because it will help with cold start up wear on engine components along with you being able to have heat instantly. You still need the battery power to turn that engine over though. And in the middle of a parking lot, you normally dont have the ability to plug in a block heater ..... unless youre in Alaska and they have the power stalls. Nothing like that here in WI though. I would still put one in my truck though just for when its parked in the driveway.

If you have the money; an inline coolant heater will do wonders. You need a big one for a V8, but as long as it has enough wattage it will heat the coolant up to 200 degrees. Once there, the thermostat will open, and then the coolant heater has a pump that circulates the coolant through the engine.

So, did you remove a freeze plug to install the block heater?

Yep. drain the anti freeze, popped out the freeze plug and put the heater plug in just make sure you tighten the screw on the heater BEFORE you put more anti freeze in it will drian out if you don't. Kinda forgot to and wasted a gallon of anti freeze
