Default Oxygen Sensors

How many do we have?

Im guessing one before each cat, and one after each cat; so a total of 4. Is this correct or are there more downstream by the y-pipe or up by the manifolds?

Also, to remove them do all I need is a regular wrench and turn them counter-clockwise?

Thanks guys.

Alright, Im getting confused on what part numbers I need for different O2 sensors on the sites. If I only need 4, it looks like 3 are the same and 1 is different.

From Rockauto.com

Upstream Right and Left, Downstream Right - Bosch #13937
Downstream Left - Bosch #13775

Can anyone confirm that one would be different?

Oreilly's lists these for Bosch:
#13775 - downstream left
#15733 - downstream right
#13937 - upstream, 2 per vehicle

Why are you replacing all 4?

Because Im at 112k and they havent been replaced yet. The recommended replacement is at 100k so I figured for $150 its not the worst thing to replace.

.... and Im trying to see if it helps my rough idle. Eimer said my truck idles noticably rougher than his. I do like it rough, but Id prefer my idle to be smooth. Lol

Alright, Advanced is showing the same thing that Im finding on Rockauto; 3 are the same, 1 is different. But Oreillys is giving a whole different part number for the right downstream.

Update: Autozone is showing 15733 as a universal O2 sensor

I went ahead and bit the bullet. I ordered 4 O2s from Rockauto for $148.95 shipped. I hope to see some better performance with the new ones .... but I wont keep my hopes up too high. From what Ive read, replacing old O2 sensors is a good idea to avoid future problems caused by fading O2s that arent triggering an engine light yet. Now hopefully I can replace them all myself ....

Be aware that even an applicable Bosch sensor may cause issues. I replaced my Bank 1 pre-cat sensor @ 80K with a Bosch unit and had nothing but CEL codes every other day. Put the original sensor back in with 80K on it, and it hasn't thrown a code in 9K.

if your sitting in the drivers seat...lol....I always double check because you never know....I ordered a "right side" marker light for my sons ZX2 and i asked if that was drivers or passengers, in that case, their "right side" was drivers, i.e. looking at the front of the car.
