The end is near...
It not so much that they are being tight lipped about it as they are pushing the new Challenger, Charger, Durango, and the new Ram trims. Oddly enough, the line between a 1500 and a 1/4 ton truck is becoming blurred like crazy. Love it or hate it, it is indeed where the market is heading.
If I thought for one minute that I would be using the bed of my new ram as a medium to haul with, I would have either gone to Chevy or looked at a 2500.

Oh I hear ya, Chris. Before you got your 4th Gen, I got into it with a gang of 4th Gen owners in that section. I had an opportunity to pull a 7700# tractor on a huge 2 axle trailer that I've pulled a few times with my truck with both a Ford F150 and a 4th Gen Ram 1500 Hemi in Georgia this past summer.
I gave my honest evaluation that the Ford pulled best DESPITE having a 100+ HP disadvantage, followed by my 3rd Gen. I was honest in that the 4th Gen "white knuckled" me while towing with it and I literally felt fatigued when I was thru . Was not a power thing, but a handling issue. No question they gave up hauling/towing and in the design phase in favor of making other areas stronger.
You'da thought I talked bad about these guys mother's. LOL...
Here's what it might look like....or something similiar

I think Im going for an AWD car next .... I dont need a truck. Lol.
A friend of the family has a 300c with a Hemi and AWD in white for $15k ..... I would do it but it wouldnt be the best move for me right now. As long as it doesnt have a 4-banger and its fast, I think Ill get by just fine.

I know everyone already knows this. 2011 is the last year of the Dakota TRUCK, as we know it.
I was talking to the local dealer, as I was trying to trade my negative equity Dakota in on a 2010 Ram 1500 and he mentioned that the Dakota in 2012 will be built on the Caravan chassis. They truly are making a car out of the truck...
Oh well, to all good things, and end must come... Some where there must be a weeping emoicon....

Hmmm, if it's done in the style of an El Camino and you could get it with a Hemi that would actually be a pretty sweet vehicle. Not necessarily useful as a truck but a lot of fun.
