Default Transmisson Problem Dakota 05

Hi:

I´m from Chile and i´m realyy happy to find a place like this, where i can talk whit other Dodge Owner.

I have a dakota 2005 SLT, and have some troubles on transmission.

The truck have 90.000 miles, adn the trasmission is "locked" on 3rd gear (I think), the transmission dont Slip, but dont change any gear , start on 3rd and stay on that gear all the time, reverse and N work fine, and the transmission dnt have any noisse.

Someone can help me about this problem ??

Thanx a lot !

I would start with checking the fluid. If its good to go I would drop the pan, change the filter and refill with new fluid.

Sounds like youre in LIMP (2nd gear).

First things first, I would try and get the code read. If thats not possible, I would reset the PCM by removing the negative battery cable for an hour and see how things work out. Its possible the problem wont return; mine had a problem that caused the transmission to go into LIMP and I reset the PCM and it hasnt returned.

Next, if you havent already I would definetly change the fluid and filters. This will prolong the life of your transmission.

yeah have you changed the fluids at all? and before that just disconnect the negative side of the battery and reset the PCM and if that doesn't work or it happens again change the filters and the fluid! if the fluid is black thats bad should be pink or redish!
