On my Charger, I used to use 87 fuel on performance setting and never had any knocking.

raise the idle up so when your sitting still its higher so it doesn't take as much of you pushing on the gas to get off the line. just helps...kinda like an extra person helping to push your car when i wont start!

I didn't see any where that said you have to run 91 octane for the tow tune, but the 91 tune says you should.
Hey I could be wrong... but I remember seeing a prompt saying Recommended 91 Octane. I am searching right now. Thanx for questioning me though, cause I do make mistakes

OK I just found a thread on Superchips Forums verifying what I said. https://www.superchips.com/forum/vie...t=7219&start=0 Its talking about the Cortex 3950 on a Hemi, but the 4.7 is still grouped in with the 5.7s - Dodge Gas Truck Models and still uses that same tuner just with different options. There should be a prompt telling you to use 91 Octane like I was saying.

It doesnt raise the idle, it locks up the torque converter quicker, changes the torque curve, and adds power of course for low end grunt. It is recommended by SC that you use 91 Octane.

Now with the tuner you can adjust the idle if you would like, but increasing the idle like you are saying, to me, would only build heat in the trans when you were sitting still and burn more fuel.

I use the 3865 SC and if I remember right { only used it once so far} I don't recall it saying anything about using 91 when I put in the tune. I pulled off the ferry and up the upper levels, loaded trailor and the hill is quit steep, not sure of grade, I think 6 or 8%, I passed cars when needed with no problem and no ping at all. It felt like it changed where the trans shifted and the shifts were smoother. Next time I put it in I'll try and look to see if it says anything about what octane to use.
