Default Headlight surrounds

Hey guys, just got the '11 Dakota, Bighorn a month ago and loving it, however, I can't stand the cheesy silver painted grill and headlight surrounds and decided to paint them to match the truck. Grill removal is easy but I can't figure how to remove the headlight surrounds. Do I have to take out the entire headlight or am I missing something? Thanks in advance and happy to be part of this forum.

I have seen a 2011 Dakota.. I know what you are wanting to do and it is not possible. The head light assembly is a sealed unit, Only way is to get a hot knife and start melting away. Its not worth it. Just mask off and paint the outside.

Welcome to the forum. I haven't spend much time on the 08+ Dakotas so some pics would certainly help.

your best and easiest way is to just tape it off, scuff and shoot... thats what i did with mine, the way they are setup they are very easy to tape off
