My dealer told me that there is a program in the puter that disarms at around 3000mi., to protect the truck during breakin period. After that supposed to feel a little more power & gas mileage should go up. havn't reached that point myself so can't tell if its true or not.

This is my first new vehical ever & was wondering what the break in period was,I thought I heard there wasn't one @ all......I dunno.
I was also wondering if anybody used syntheic oil on there first oil change.

Thank's in advance.

Drive it during break in like you will drive it everyday. This goes for everything. As for the 3000 miles I can't say that I honestly noticed any difference. Have about 11,000 miles now and noticed big difference when I put the K&N Filter in it.

Used dealer oil first couple oil changes. This last oil change I did and put Mobil 1 in it with K&N Oil Filter.

Thank's m10rules I hear you on the K&N filter I too noticed a diff right off the bat,I also noticed on my over head the MPG has increased by a couple.Driving @ speeds of 80 are the same MPG as 65 so why not make better time
Have you noticed a diff in yur MPG?

as for the oil change......I might just stay w/ the "good" reg ol school oil & wait till my 9K oil change.I plan on keeping my new truck for a while so I don't mind dropping a couple of extra $$ into her if it's gonna help.

This is the first time I've ever used K&N Oil Filter. Definently going to keep using it for this truck though, have the 1" nut on the end of the filter makes changing it ALOT easier on these.

Not had a good chance to compare gas mileage since I put the K&N Air Filter in, did notice that it went from 16.2 to 16.4 mpg. 90% of the use is 1 mile back and forth to work.

I don't understand the 1" nut.Is it on the filter?Sorry I just don't unerstand.BTW how much was the filter?

Also, you must have the Overhead consol, when get on the HWY switch to the avg.MPG stage then hit the reset button when your @ cruising speed you'll get a new AVG,this will be of HWY miles per Gallon.
Mine was from 23.2 but no lower than 19.6 it didn't matter If I was going 80 or 65 I was surprised on the findings VS the factory filter.
It's kinda funny on the window sticker it stated 20MPG on HWY I highly dought it!Maybe w/ a K&N filter I think they used to put K & N filters in the older vehicls why not now?

I used to get ~19 on the highway @70mph. Haven't had chance to try it out again.

K&N puts a 1" nut on the end of their oil filters. Makes it alot easier to get it on and off! This one was $12. Gonna do some shopping around to see if I can find it cheaper.
