My homemade CAI - good or no?

BBK Filter (a little dirty, been using that end piece as a short ram for awhile) with 3.5" pipe to the connector to 3" pipe into the TB.
I used a piece of threaded pipe to get the vacuum hose to connect.
I used a piece of rubber hose that the IAT sensor would fit in snugly and silicone it on. I was woried about that falling off, but it's snug enough that the wires will hold it back and would take the hose with it instead of falling into the TB.
Also, i can see why you would see a bit of an increase from boring the TB. I may do that later if I have some time.
Gonna go pick the kid up from daycare in a little while now that my house chores are done and see how it drives. Too bad it's currently -2* F here around Chicago and the roads are all ice and salt....

OH! and one more thing about this CAI....I actually did the math on the whole thing, like, really did. Ok, there are websites out there that helped, but still, I put in cam specs, engine size, port volumes, compression ratios, lift, bore, stroke, etc. in there.
Results (totally stock btw) show that a 3.5" (88mm)pipe is ideal for intake, while a 3" (78mm) TB is ideal.... I know that doesn't make a whole lotta sense, BUT, you need that extra air in the intake before the TB for the velocity.... That being said, I go from 3.5" to 3" sooner rather than later mainly due to space restrictions and a straighter shot to the TB. (EDIT: This may seem large on the TB size for stock, but I didn't plan on keeping things stock. Calculations were made for 260 CRANK HP at 5000 rpm. Obviosly, a stock TB can only get to about 70mm and the 3" would be fine there as well. I just figured i'd say this before I got yelled at, lol)
Another thing is intake LENGTH. I didn't realize this was a issue, but it IS! For totally stock, it goes in harmonics (not going to even TRY to explain) which puts it at 70 cm, 53, or 42 cm. Mine is 26cm, which is almost half of the 53cm harmonic. Not ideal, but seriously, ya gonna shove 70 cm of tube in there?
Also, constructed out of exhaust pipe because it looks better and flows better than a PVC setup. I am also looking at removing the plastic pieces from the front by the windshield washer tank and the reservoir in order to get some cooler air. OR, i'm thinking of fiber-glassing a heat shield so I can use the cowl effect of the hood itself... We'll see what time and money let me do.

The exhaust pipe was a good idea. PVC is not rated for anything other than cold water, and actually releases chemicals when heated. Its been debated if these can do anything to an engine, but if its not ordinary filtered air, I dont think I would want it going in to my intake.
For cold air, just do a bumper scoop

That looks awesome! I have been thinking of doing that, but i just aint had time to go by any exhaust shop to have them bend me one up.
What did you do to the outside of it? Is it spray paint, powder coat, or ceramic coated?

I used to have a turbocharged 94 mustang (Hence the Blu3P0ny, it was the most beautiful color blue) but a girl Tboned me when she ran a red and it was far from salvagable. I bought it back cuz I had so much parts on it and all. I'd love to turbocharge my Dak, but I really doubt that will happen with my budget anymore... works been slow.
Also, exhaust pieces were laying around. I used to have a turbocharged 94 mustang (Hence the Blu3P0ny, it was the most beautiful color blue) but a girl Tboned me when she ran a red and it was far from salvagable. Amen to that one! First, I love my job, but I have been with my company for over 3 years and I aint got a raise at all, and since i got here, i have taken over 2 other peoples jobs since they got fired. Hopefully this year will go better.
