Roll Pan

Thanks Blown.
I saw that picture in another thread when I was searching for roll pan threads (there are only about 3) and its definetly in the back of my mind. I was rear ended once, and where I was hit the bumper didnt even help, except to cost more in damage since it was pushed in to the side of the bed. A new bumper is $500 from Mopar.
After taking it apart, I cant believe how little protection there is stock. The only thing that will save you in an accident is the factory "hitch" that comes on all of the Dakotas. The bumper is nothing more than a thin piece of chromed steel that you can lift with a pinky. And the hitch that runs behind the bumper wont protect you unless someone hits you straight on. So yes, the roll pan does remove protection, but if you get rear ended, not much will save you regardless. Ill just say that I wont be brake checking tailgaters anymore ....
