Oversized rear shocks
Hey everyone,
So Im firming up my front end, and I was looking at firming up the rear a little too. I currently have factory struts with 116k and Monroe shocks in the rear that I installed last summer.
Im getting Ranch 5000 struts and a 1.5" TM kit (being put inside the strut) installed on Tuesday. It should be a night and day difference since my factory struts have been rode hard.
I've seen it mentioned before, but never actually researched. What do I have to do to find a set of oversized shocks for the back of my truck to firm up the ride. I'm basically interested in getting something for a full size truck. What do I want to compare? I'm thinking compressed length has to match, and other than that I'm not sure. Any insight? I'm not sure if anyone has done this before on a Dakota @ factory ride height.

Probably, but Im looking for the easiest install. Im not sure if an oversized shock would even be worth it. I've also heard that alot of people cant even tell the difference with the Ranch shocks in the rear.
if you want to do it right and get the best ride quality. go with a company like FOA, KING, FOX, Sway away.
what i would do if you want to keep it easy and factory. is measure your shock you have right now. measure the eye to eye collapsed and eye to eye extended. add a few inches on both measurements and your set. Also look into a shock with a reservoir for the best ride quality
