Default Perhaps the Final possible lift kit thread?

I sent an email to doetschtec, about lift kits on our dakota. I saw that there was a thread back a year or so ago.

I emailed him to see if he had any updates on a timeline for a lift kit for our trucks. This is the response that I got.

"It takes awhile before there are chassis available in the junk yards. We are hopeful that we will find one soon (complete front end) this is what we start with. Once we get our hands on one it takes three monthes. Then we will go into production. We can not make just two kits. The first run costs are approx. $10k with tooling and steel, casting, etc.

I dont want someones truck, doesn't work. Need chassis.

Find me one and at a good price and I'll get started."

So as per his request, lets get on looking for a front chassis from a 2005-07 dakota, that he can use for getting this designed. He specifically said that he did not want someones truck so keep an eye on ebay, and general junk yards to let him know about.

Maybe this is the time that we might be able to get a lift for our truck in a year or so. I mean this is the most positive email that I have gotten back or seen, it seems as tho, this guy wants to make one, he just has not had the items to do it.

I agree, that sounds like the most positive response to a lift question from any of the companies. What part of the country do they work out of?

I am in if they figure it out. If they can guarantee a quality suspension lift I will write them a check today. I will keep an eye out for a chassis.

This is awesome. If you think about it, I see why no one has really pursued a lift kit yet. First, finding the chassis to work on like the guy wants from the first post. And not many people wouldve bought a lift if it was out. All these trucks are still fairly new and have warranties which people dont want to give up. Now, many of these trucks are running out or are out of warranty, where the mods will begin. These trucks are first becoming affordable for people who are willing to jack their truck up for more than just show.
