Hmmm.. imagine that.. I'm not the only one who READ the thread and what was posted about what he plans to use it for....

Also cigarette lighter powered accessories are designed to be in compliance of a specific draw as not to overload or burn up factory wiring, (hence litigation, liability etc etc) So there really is no mega-amp cigarette lighter accessories on the market.

So yeah, 14 or 16 gauge would be good (14 being better) and 12 gauge would be a bit of overkill, but still work just fine.

Also the other main concern would be to use a weather resistant outlet (marine rated etc)

This would probably be your cheapest route for the socket:

I found some cheap plugs and connectors at a hardware vendor at the local flea market when I made my connector under the bumper of my Jeep for lights. They use 10 gauge wire and the connector was $2 and the male end pigtails are a buck a piece.
Since I swap between 55 watt Hellas and the 130 watt lights I mounted on the portable winch, I ran all the wiring in 10 gauge.

This is what I bought. So, 12 guage wire it is with an inline fuse near the battery. And again, this is strictly for radio and small electronics for tailgating, the beach and camping.

Thanks guys!

I ordered it online at autozone.com None of the store (O'reilly or Autozone or Napa) had what I was looking for. So, I went to AZ's website and there it was.
