Anybody have a rear bumper?
Backed into something and need a new rear bumper for my 05 dakota. Thought maybe someone might have upgraded their black rear bumper to a chrome one and wants to get rid of it?
Also, is it easy to switch out the rear bumper? Looks like just some bolts that hold it on, and switch the lights over? Was looking at some new aftermarket bumpers online that don't have the trim on top, is that hard to switch over?
Sorry, did not get to finish that last post. Shoot Bobby (Rengnath) a pm and ask if he still has his/wants to get rid of it. He just installed a roll pan so he removed the rear bumper. His was chrome I believe. So if you need black, that might not work, but you can paint chrome....as for removal, I'm he or someone can enlighten you. I'm sure it is only a couple of bolts/nuts and the trim is probably just snapped in/out, held on with clips that fit into openings on the bumper.
Yeah they are pretty to get off upper trim piece has buil in clips that snap into cover just use needle nose pliers to pinch them so you dont tear the tabs off. Work in one direction to the other if you yank all of em will break. Lic lamps just snap in place.

You can swap the bumper out very easily. The hardest part for me was getting the lights for the license plate unclipped, no joke. I ended up pulling the plug off the frame to disconnect it because I couldnt get it. Other than that, its 4 bolts. Heres a pic:

You can see where it mounts; the bolts sit horizontal. If that hitch is damaged, then you have to remove another 6 bolts and those take a few jumps on the breaker bar and alot of penitrating lube.
Im not looking to sell mine incase I get in trouble with johnny law or I get rear ended. Unfortunatly I wouldnt be able to find another roll pan, so the old bumper would have to go back on. The one I have only has a year of use on it; it was brand new from Mopar after I got rear ended. They arent cheap if you go that route; about $500. You can find them used a lot cheaper.

That will probably be your best route unless you find one used locally, but every time I tried getting a bumper for my old 94 Chevy pickup, yards wanted over $200 for black ..... and that was a very common application.
