bumper mount bolts
hey guys im still tryin to get my brackets on for my aries bull bar but these bolts seem impossible. i have already tried impact on them, 1/2 drive with a bar to pry, a ratchet with my buddy pushing down on the top with a crowbar and can not seem to get them off, they just spin. Also, i feel like aries sent me the wrong brackets because i feel like the bumper will get in the way when i finally do go to install the bull bar. if youd like a pic of the brackets i can post one later. i know there is other threads about this but they didnt help too much
From what I understand, there is no good way to get those bolts out. Ive read hitting them with an impact is your best shot, but I havent heard of what to do after that. Have you tried spraying it down with penetrating lube or using a torch to head it up?
Yeah, they are a real b!tch. You could try taking it to the dealer to see if they would attempt to get them off for you, but they will charge you labor our the ***.
It is the one reason I havent ordered my tow hooks yet. I know some guys have talked about welding a nut on the side that spins so they can get a wrench on there to hold it. If you have access to a welder, it might be worth a try.

yeah i dont really have time to take it to the dealer tho man..theyre a real b!itch is right bro. im a mechanic too so having someone else work on my truck isnt exactly my favorite thing to do (: i ll think of something hopefully dont have to weld them tho. these trucks are built nice but some things are harder than they should be. just put some sylvania bulbs in my headlights and it took an hour..it sucks haha
One of my bulbs burnt out on a week of our coldest weather. I ended up having to remove one bolt at a time, go inside and warm up for 5 minutes, just to do it again. Lol. I would agree with that though; Dodge had their head up somewhere while designing these trucks.
just saw your comment now man but youre right. i found the three bolts (t27s in my case) and got them out fine with a magnet and what not. i finish my driver side bulb then i go to the other side and the bumper was not straight enough so i could not fit my socket into the hole for the bottom bolt. so i already had the two side bolts out then just had to lay down and reach up there. my stock phillips lamp was stuck into the harness and i had to PRY it out and then it wouldnt line up and lock in place. i was pissed but the sylvanias are nice and bright and now match my fog lamps

you will probably need to weld a nut to the top of that steel bushing to get a good enough grip on it to keep it from spinning. you will probably have to remove the horns on drivers side and fluid reservoir from pass side to access for welding. the top center of the steel bushing takes a 1/2''(?)(may be a metric size) allen key, but visually, it doesn't look deep enough to get a good bite. it looks like the allen key has to be hollowed on the end to get deep in past the bolt end. might be worth a shot if no welder is available.
