it should connect to the top of the diff yea mine ends up by the battery

They really should not have to grind the edges of the teeth down to get it to fit in the case, or that is the first time I have heard about it.

*update*
almost done took about 4 and a half hours, only had to jack up one side and disasemble it. The halfshaft just pulls out the diff. 6 bolts... well 4 bolts for me alot easier than i thought it would be .
no damage to cv's or any other components, and if your wondering why the driveshaft looked twisted

Damn, it amazes me that just a 4.7l can do that. The diffs are definetly the weak link in our drivetrain. The 545rfe is awesome, IMO. But the diffs just dont hold up from what I can see.

Now did you upgrade from 3.55s to 3.92s?

yup im going the 3.92 route, the whole diffs were cheaper than a set of gears with master install. and no messing around with mesh paterns

Ive heard the 3.92s arent a worlds difference, but it should definetly add some pickup for you.
