Default Help 2005 4.7 liter transmission fluid change

How do you guys remove the one bolt in the middle of the rear on the transmission pan? Seems to be the only bolt I cannot get.

I believe the manual states to remove the crossmember. I think eimer was able to use a flat wrench or ground down socket? Maybe he will chime in.

I unbolt the tranny from crossmember, and lift it with a jack. I but a block between the tranny and the cross member. Then I loosen all the 8mm bolts all the way around and let it drain for about an hour. If you are changing the filters drop the pan and remove both filters. Install is the exact opposite. Good luck.

I used a small 1/4" socket wrench to get to that one. If I ever get back under there I would just drill holes in the cross member right under those bolts.

Same here, I thought about drilling those holes out but I couldn't bring myself to drill my solid tranny mounts I'm so proud of, lol.

Thread resurrection I know, but I wanted to thank Blown for the tip about jacking the transmission up and shoving a block under the crossmember when trying to drop the transmission pan. I planned on removing the crossmember but the first bolt was stuck enough that I broke my 18mm socket trying to get it loose. The 3 bolts in the rear were kind of a pain but it worked just fine.
