I thought you were just throwing them on top of the strut, Nick? I hope you are using an actual spring compresser though, and not a pry bar .....

Kent, since you are getting new struts, just wait until then. Whether you are doing it yourself or not, I recommend you atleast take the struts to a shop to get the springs compressed, then you have nothing to worry about. A shop wouldnt charge that much to swap the old struts with the new.

Thats what I did

It all started with WHTBOY selling me the spacers, and I was going to wait until summer to pick up the struts ..... but then I got an awesome deal on the struts ..... so I couldnt wait to get them installed. lol

Yes, I used a spring compressor. And in order to put them on top of the strut, you need to take the hat off and swap out the mounting bolts to longer ones, so either way, with the TM kit requires disassembly either way. I had to call DonkeyPunch and see if he had any suggestions and he was surprised that I was having that much trouble LOL

Yea, I have had plenty of experience with struts and what-not. These trucks make it a PITA to remove them.

Oh, they are. The shop charged me $420 to swap the struts and I brought all my own parts. The bolt on the lower control arm seized to the bushing, and they had problems getting the nuts off the top of the hat. If I had a brand new truck I would attempt it myself, but after a few WI winters, I just take it to the shop. Hopefully my upper control arms wont be too bad.
