We have 2, and the way we decided to start the college funding, was to open an investment account for each of them, and deposit a small percentage of our paychecks into those accounts.
My "fun fund" is only added to after all the bills and stuff are paid. generally, less than 5% of my check is actually "mine" LOL

i know this is off topic but as a college student who was fortunate enough to have parents that set up a college fund for me. I dont have to pay for school. Takes a huge financial burden off me. so college funds are sure worth it. its a vanguard 429 i think.

I am going through paying my student loans off, and it sucks. I feel that because I am in a position where I can put away money for them, that I should. My parents "donate" to their college funds from time to time. their accounts are in a lot better shape than my 401k, thats for sure. lol

Wish my parental units had made better choices. Trying to fight off all those bad habits I was raised into isn't so easy. I guess I started making great choices when I saw that all i had to do was the opposite of everything they did.
