Angry Spare tire help...

I don't know if it is me or what but I have tried to take my spare tire off my truck but no luck. I lower the winch down and it only comes down half-way and the tire doesn't come close to the ground . Is that how it is supposed to be or is there another way to do it? Any help or tips on how to take the tire of the winch would help too.. TIA

Nick

ahhh...the old stuck spare tire....we all have that...rwad this thread...you have to lower it as far as it will go and then reach over the spare and while lifting it back up to take the weight off the cable push in two "wings" that get stuck over time from rust/road debris, etc. its some kind of safety feature.

When I did my roll pan I was going to pull mine down to see how rusted it was ..... but I didnt have the ambition. I shouldve just pulled it down and left it off the truck. I have roadside assistance/towing, and if Im on the side of a freeway or its raining, I aint changing that tire regardless. Lol.

Default Hmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!

First thing I do when I bring my new truck home is to drop the spare tire and put it in the corner of my garage. I take it with in the box when I go out of town.

Can't imagine trying to crawl in the snow or mud prying it loose if I needed it.

I don't admit this to many folks but when I was dropping the spare I laid a blanket under it to drop it on and then just pull the blanket out and take the spare away.

The wife was watching and I said "you just have to be thinking ahead" in which she replied, "why not just drop the spare and drive the truck forward" and then pick it up. It saves getting the blanket dirty.

Damned Norweigens!!!!!
