Default New speaker questions

Hey guys, i'm looking to upgrade my stock speakers and I just wanted to check if there was anything I should be looking for? Or can I just use any 6.5" speakers?
What are you guys running?

Right now all I have is Pioneer DEH-P5000ub headunit, which is awesome for the Ipod thanks to the usb port it provides.

i threw in JL 6.5" TR650-CXi and im very satisfied.. i can crank it up to max volume and not one clip or distortion.. any 6.5 will work for you though...i also got a Kicker L7 so it can overpower that for treble as well..

How is the bass on just the door speakers without the subwoofer going?

I have Pioneer 6.5" all around, the bass wasn't that great. But you can't expect too much from that size. Dropped in the bazooka tube for some serious bass.

great clean bass with nice crisp highs and mids. it also has enough kick to shake your mirrors quite a bit, not that stock didnt...

Thanks guys, i'll look into the bass tube as well.

And also how quickly can you remove the bass tube, because quite frequently I fill up the back seats with my buddies.

Just do a search on Bazooka Tube, I started a thread a while ago that pretty much explains it thoroughly. It takes about 10 seconds to remove it.

Im running Polk 6.5s and I love them. They are a bright and punchy speaker, which some people dont like. I think they sound awesome for being powered by the factory head unit.

I have Alpine Type R in the front and Quinn (cartoys brand) in the rear doors. They sounded OK with the head unit but sound great with an amp. Watch out for speaker that have a tweeter that sits to far forward or it will hit the door grill. Your not going to get great bass with any head unit, you need an amp w/ HP crossover and/or sub.
