Default Retread Tires

http://www.treadwright.com/c-15-265-75r16.aspx. I have heard nothing but good reviews about them and I know a lot of people that run them and love them. I am considering either the Howlers or Guard Dog's (Goodyear Duratrac w/ kevlar clone). I want to know your opinions and/or experience on retread tires. I am not looking to start a war or anything, just want to make sure before I order them..

I ran re-treads on every vehicle I owned up until I got married and had kids, then after that only on the secondary vehicle (i.e my daily driver, not the family driver). I grew up with retreads because my dad loved to save money and thats all he would buy and why i had them when I started driving. This was back in the 80's and I never had an issue with them (i drove Camaros and Firebirds and burned rubber all the time back then). I have mixed feelings about them now only because it's hard to find them around here in a price that is competitive with a normal, off branded, new tire. You can get a 1st quality, off brand (Definity Dakota's come to mind) for the same price as a retread. All I'm saying is do your homework. Pepboys is having a buy 3 get one free sale right now on the Definity tires. If I had one close to me I would be getting them tomorrow. How cool is having Dakota tires on a Dakota...lol

think about it this way. you buy retreads and save some money up front. driving 70mph on the highway one of them separates and you total your truck and your injured. just over like 200 bucks b.c you wanted to buy retread vs new.

on a personal vehicle would say no, we use em on out military vehicle because its cost effictive for us and we are only allowed to drive uner 80km/h. We get a lot of blowouts on them, on the viechiles with two axles they usually end up rolling or flipping.

I thought about running retreads since I got my Dak but haven't had the cash flow yet. Honestly from what has been read online about personnel vehicles over tractor trailers running them I don't see much difference. Sure they have usually more then 2 wheels per side there aren't a lot of blow outs on the thru way or around town i think it would be safe to run them. It might not be cost effective because I emailed treadwright once and shipping was something ridiculous even if you bought 4 tires at once so it might not really save you much compared to buying new.
